CMS Content Editing
CMS separates content from layout. The layout is set up by the designer via templates and stylesheets. This allows the content editors to simply concentrate on creating and maintaining the website content. The image below shows how the content is arranged into pages (each page is an actual page in the website). New content (pages) may be added or existing content edited.
CMS WYSIWIG Content Editing
When content is edited or added it can be done either via a WYSIWIG Editor as shown below or as plain text. The WYSIWIG Editor means the user does not have to know any HTML as HTML tags (e.g. <br> and <p>) are automatically inserted. In the example below, the user has opened the "About Us" page and highlighted some text they wish to remove. They press the delete key to remove it.
The user then clicks the "Preview" button to view the changed website page. At this point the change is not yet saved to the "Live" website. The change appears live when "Submit" or "Apply " is clicked. Pressing "Cancel" will undo any changes.
